Just Cuts Senior Project Manager, Maree Magdas on stage at 2017 Retail Marketing Summit
In a year that saw virtual and augmented reality come of age with Oculus, Samsung, Sony, Google, HTC and Microsoft exploring new frontiers and commercial applications for the technology, the growth of this burgeoning industry is forecast to exceed $150bn by 2020, according to a Digi-Capital report.
Just Cuts Senior Project Manager, Maree Magdas was invited to join an expert panel at the 2017 Retail Marketing Summit on Wednesday 15 February 2017 to demonstrate how Australian retailers and brands are utilising Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) for social media, tourism, sales, store design, category platforms, training and unique shopper experiences. The session included a live demonstration of Microsoft’s HoloLens and Oculus Rift platforms, followed by a Q&A on the future of the technology and commercial impact.
Maree shone on a panel of three which included Jason Bentley, CEO of Aurora VR and Dean Calder, Head of Category & Channel Development, Danone Nutrica. Maree said, 'It was fantastic to showcase how we utilise VR to communicate the new Just Cuts Kiosk concept. Our core product is of course Just Cuts salons and haircuts, but we position ourselves as a technology business. We have a big focus on leveraging technology and innovation to improve the experience and process for our Clients, Stylists and our internal teams.'
