After more than a decade in the hair industry and years spent working within the Just Cuts network, new franchise owner Nia Kim is now living the dream of salon ownership at Just Cuts Geelong, proving that with the right support system, passion and dedication can quickly turn into business success.

Having officially taken ownership of the salon on 1 April 2026, Nia and her partner are already building strong momentum within the local community, creating a thriving team culture and setting ambitious growth goals for the future.

From Stylist to Salon Owner

A hairstylist since 2012, Nia spent years working across several Just Cuts salons between 2017 and 2024, gaining firsthand experience with the brand’s proven systems and supportive culture.

“Throughout my time with the brand, I developed a deep admiration for Just Cuts’ strong history and smart business model,” Nia said.

“It was always an incredibly rewarding place to work, both for stylists and salon owners. After years of hard work and dedication toward the dream of owning a Just Cuts franchise, my partner and I were finally able to raise the capital to make that dream a reality.”

The opportunity came at the perfect time when the Geelong salon became available.

“With a little serendipity, a salon on our side of town became available at exactly the right moment. We knew Just Cuts Geelong was meant to be ours.”

Building a Strong Team Culture

While only just over a month into ownership, Nia says one of the proudest achievements so far has been building a positive and collaborative salon environment.

“I’m incredibly proud of the strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork we’ve built within the salon already,” Nia said.

“Our next milestones are focused on growing revenue by continuing to deliver exceptional service to every client, while also increasing foot traffic through targeted local area marketing and community engagement.”

Supported Every Step of the Way

Transitioning from stylist to business owner was made significantly easier thanks to the established systems and support provided by Just Cuts.

“As a former Just Cuts stylist, I was already very familiar with the systems, SOPs and day-to-day operations,” Nia explained.

“I also had complete trust in the Just Cuts infrastructure, support network and Academy team, which made the transition into ownership feel far less daunting than starting a business from scratch.”

Nia also credited the broader Just Cuts network for making the onboarding process seamless.

“I’d love to give a shout out to everyone from the Academy and salon network who made the process so smooth and tangle-free; Jack, Chris, Aaron, Brooke, Deb, Michael and of course our wonderful stylists at Just Cuts Geelong.”

A Growing Global Opportunity

As Just Cuts continues to expand internationally, the franchise network is creating even more opportunities for aspiring salon owners looking to join an established and trusted brand.

With new salons set to open across Canada in July 2026, Just Cuts is entering an exciting new phase of global growth, offering franchise partners the chance to be part of a proven business model with international momentum.

For Nia, the future is bright.

“What I enjoy most about being a franchise owner is collaborating with my team, both at the salon and at the academy, to deliver quality Style Cuts to the community,” Nia said.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see our hard work reflected in happy clients, strong customer satisfaction and healthy business growth.”
